Her Experience:

Lucy Clay has been teaching dance in all its forms since 1993. She believes that dance should be accessible to all, and that, regardless of level or natural ability, everyone who studies it stands to gain. She is also a stickler for sound teaching technique, and ensures that all Fancy Footwork teachers share her consuming passion for communicating the joy of dance.

She trained at the Royal Ballet School, on the pioneering and world-renowned course initiated by Dame Ninette de Valoise. She is qualified in the RAD and Cecchetti methods, and draws on both techniques in her quest to develop well rounded, versatile dancers. Lucy favours the universally recognised RAD Examinations as the basis for pupils to continue their dance studies to whatever level they wish. And as a consequence, she is justifiably proud that the pass rate for RAD examinations at Fancy Footwork is 100%.

Lucy has attained a wealth of experience in her career, including working with junior associates of the Royal Ballet School. She has also taught internationally, at the University of Gothenberg, Sweden, and at vocational schools in Italy. She can also count among her successes students who have gone on to perform professionally and to teach dance around the world.

And because Lucy holds the art of performance in high regard, it’s also an occasional part of the curriculum at Fancy Footwork. The school regularly puts on professionally-run shows with full choreography, intricate costumes and lighting. Above all, it’s an opportunity for pupils to participate in a unique and magical experience that they will treasure forever.
